Steven trained as a commercial lawyer with a niche commercial practice in the West End of London. He qualified in 1990 and joined Burton & Dyson in 1992, becoming a partner in 1994. Since moving to Burton & Dyson, Steven has been involved in a wide variety of practice areas from crime and mental health to employment and commercial transactions and advice, in which he now specialises.
Steven advises commercial clients – both domestic and international – on all aspects of their operations ranging from mergers and acquisitions, brand protection and licensing, to contract issues employment and commercial property advice. He retains an interest in contentious matters, acting for both employers and employees in employment disputes.
Steven is an office holder in several companies. He is the secretary of a local charity, Gainsborough and District Welfare Community Association, which provides a venue, Gainsborough House, to a range of local charities and organisations. He also advises other charities on an ad hoc basis. Steven is the honorary secretary and treasurer of the Lincolnshire Law Society.
Steven has a keen interest in many sporting activities which he enjoys from the comfort of his armchair, from where he also explores other countries largely through the medium of their wine
